The winery
Our location makes us unique
The winery is located on a hill in the upper part of the village, a real balcony overlooking the Ebro Valley and the Sierra de Cantabria, the Sierra de La Demanda and Ollauri and its vineyards
Its structure is perfectly integrated into the landscape according to the traditional construction of the winery district that presides over the upper part of Ollauri, a mound on which the slopes have traditionally been used to excavate its characteristic cellars

What makes us different?
Vineyard and surroundings
Origin matters
Ollauri was a hamlet of Briones until the 18th Century, when it became an independent municipality. Its urban complex is one of the most beautiful in the region and its streets are lined with two-story ashlar stone palaces
Above the town, and taking advantage of the unevenness of the slope, the “tuferas” or chimneys of ventilation of the warehouses that are in the subsoil arise. Some of these constructions date back to the Middle Ages
Marqués de Terán controls 80 hectares of vineyards distributed among different plots near the municipality of Ollauri. This area of Rioja is characterized by the exceptional quality of its soil and the low yield of its vineyards, which favors the quality of the grapes
At harvest time, the entire crop is harvested by hand and the grapes are placed in 17 kg boxes to avoid crushing
The grapes harvested each day arrive at the winery in less than 3 hours. In this way, the fruit, freshly picked from the vine, enters Marqués de Terán in the best possible condition, without being crushed or undergoing any fermentation
